MTN BETA TALK REVIEW 2016

Hello everyone, today we will be reviewing another service plan from telecommunications giants MTN Nigeria called the MTN Beta Talk. In this review we will show why you should consider migrating to this plan, its benefits, how to migrate, and also its downsides.

SERVICE REVIEW

In recent times, network providers in Nigeria have been coming up with different tariff plans that doubles, tripples or give percentage bonuses on recharges made on their lines. It is like a competition between these network providers to service its subscribers with the best tariff packages. The MTN Beta talk is one of those tariff plans and it really has some great benefits I must confess.

I got to know about the MTN Beta talk tariff plan through my mom, I don't even know how she got on the tariff plan and it suits her perfectly. I noticed that she don't recharge her line as often as she used to, not because she hasn't been making calls, in fact the number of calls she makes has doubled. So I was wondering to myself, what kind of tariff plan could she possibly be on? So I decided to check her account balance to confirm, she was on MTN Beta talk! I had to do a little research on the MTN Beta talk tariff and I learnt quite a lot about the tariff plan.

MTN Beta Talk is a prepaid tariff plan that rewards its subscribers with 3 times the value of every recharge they make on their lines. For example, if I recharge my line with N100 I will receive a 200% bonus airtime to call national numbers, that is, I will be given an extra N200 to call any Nigerian number (MTN, Glo, Airtel, Etisalat etc), in addition to my N100 recharge.

On MTN Beta talk, you can only call national numbers with your bonus airtime, if you make international calls, you will be charged from your main account at the prevailing international call rates. With MTN Beta talk, your 200% bonus is not only limited to national calls, you can also use it for SMS and Pay As You Go (PAYG) browsing/data services.

MTN Beta talk is open to all MTN prepaid customers and migration is completely free for the first 30 days, that is, your first migration within 30 days is free, subsequent migrations within the same 30 days will attract a fee of N100. There is no limit to the number of times to which you can migrate, you can migrate in and out as often as you please.

To migrate to the MTN Beta talk, simply dial *123*2*6# or simply send 'BT' to 131. Another thing you need to know about the MTN Beta talk is the call rates. With MTN Beta talk, you are charged at a flat rate of 40 kobo per second to call all national numbers, from both your main account and bonus account. International calls, SMS, and data while roaming will be charged from your main account at the prevailing international call rates.

Asides from been rewarded with a 200% bonus on each recharge, MTN Beta talk subscribers will also enjoy a free 10MB data when they recharge their lines with at least N100 every week. This 10MB data bonus will only come once a week and the validity of this 10MB data bonus is 7 days. Another advantage of using the MTN Beta talk tariff plan is that you don't get to pay any daily access fee, or spend a minimum amount before you start enjoying the benefits. Also, you don't have to recharge your line with a special code to get the 200% bonus, just recharge with the normal *555*pin# and you will get your bonus instantly. Checking your main account and bonus account is also done the normal way, which is *556#.

The MTN Beta talk is designed specially for subscribers that make long calls, and like the name "Beta Talk", you are guaranteed a better talk time.

DOWNSIDES

One of the disadvantages of the MTN Beta talk is that you are charged at a flat rate of 40 kobo per second which is very high when compared to other tariff plans like the MTN pulse where you are being charged 11 kobo per second to call national numbers and even international numbers. So in essence the 200% bonus you receive is not entirely free as it seems because you have already been billed for it unknowingly. The interesting thing about the MTN Beta talk is because there is no daily access fee/rental fee unlike the MTN pulse where you have to spend and accumulate a benchmark of N10 first before you start enjoying the 11 kobo per second call rates.

Secondly, when you are on MTN Beta talk, you cannot enjoy the MTN 'share n sell' option. That means you cannot share your airtime with your friends and family, so if you had intentions of recharging large sums of money on your line just to enjoy the 200% bonus, and thereafter sell off the money on your main account, I'm sorry to disappoint you, MTN Nigeria has disabled the Share n Sell option, it won't work when you are on MTN Beta Talk tariff plan.

RATINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

MTN Beta talk is yet another amazing tariff plan from MTN Nigeria, it best suits subscribers that make frequent and regular calls to national numbers. It will help you save a lot of money because you will be given a 200% bonus on any recharge you make on your line. So at the end of the day you make longer and better calls with just a single recharge. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who makes long national calls, maybe for businesses or just for family. The MTN Beta talk has an amazing rating of 8/10 on our rate scale.
